We train you to use breakaway techniques and physical restraint that is relevant to your situation - whether in social services in housing and fostering, for care provision at local authority and private organisations or at local accident and emergency hotspots in hospitals and on location for the emergency services.

For other  Lone Workers this might be absolutely necessary - not only for good responsible and financial reasons, but also because an employer has a statutory legal duty of care to ensure that staff are safe at their place of work.

MAX teach very simple techniques that you can remember easily, whether exploiting the weakness of the thumb in any grip or a simple strike.  It must however be reasonable force in the circumstances.

Every situation is different - the pictures opposite may have nothing to do with your circumstances.  They may look over the top or too mild.

One perfectly useful mild restraint in an elderly care home might be weak and ineffective in an accident and emergency ward at the local hospital.  A useful breakway technique to get away from a slightly drunk admirer who hasn't read your signals well....will possibly only enrage a potential rapist.

With children and the elderly or mental health patients it may be totally inappropriate to use high levels of force.  In other environments you may have to use high levels of (reasonable) force to get away and stay safe.

We can help you work out what is right for you, so ask us to look at your policies, processes, environments and supportive technology.

Our clients range from Nuffield Health and councils through to local NHS offices and private medical research busiensses, so we have considerable experience with children and adults from care backgrounds, young offender, drugs and alcohol and at schools, colleges and universities.

Our initial consultation can be free, so please let us know if we can help.  Ring us on 0844 8700 629 or send us an enquiry.
